Book Covers
I always loved book covers and was thrilled when I received my first briefing. With a focus on clean design and impactful visuals, I aim to craft covers that not only catch the eye but also resonate with readers. Each book is different, which allows me to explore different visuals and the connections between illustration, photography and type.

Os Jacobinos Negros / The Black Jacobins
Cover for the portuguese edition of The Black Jacobins, by C. L. R. James. The brutal history of the french colony of San Domingo and the story of how a slave led a victorious revolution and thus began the first independent nation of the Caribbean. A historic book and (less important) one of my favorite projects of this year.

Um Incidente Chamado Rachel / The Rachel Incident
Cover for the portuguese version of The Rachel Incident, written by Caroline O’Donoghue - New York Times bestseller author. I had lots of fun experimenting with color, contrasts and textures - it helps, of course, that I also loved the book.

Sob o Signo de Saturno / Born Under Saturn
Cover for the portuguese edition of Born under Saturn, by Margot and Rudolf Wittkower. A classic text compiling stories about the lives of artists, the concept of creation, inspiration, madness and the way they have been modified throughout history.

Entre Cravos e Cardos / Between Carnations and Thistles
When Thomas Fischer - aka, my dad - visited Portugal for the first time, in the so-called Hot Summer of 1975, after a three-day trip behind the wheel of a green Beetle, he had no idea that this trip would change his life. In this book, 50 years after the Carnation Revolution that restored democracy, he tells what, from his perspective, went well and what went badly. It was an honor for me, to design and illustrate the cover of my father’s book.

A Corrente / The Current
This thriller from portuguese writer Filipa Amorim follows a group of friends in the town of Santa Cruz, on the portuguese coast, as they come to terms with the death of one of them. Full of mystery and nostalgic, melancholic vibes.
