Book Covers - Clarice Lispector collection
I had the opportunity — and the responsibility — to reinterpret the covers of Clarice Lispector's celebrated works, to be published by Companhia das Letras starting in 2025. Clarice's writing, known for its poetry, complexity, and introspection, presented a unique challenge: to translate her intricate literary world into visual form and create a cohesive system that could encompass her novels, letters, chronicles and short stories, for many years.

Graphic project
Over the course of her life, Clarice Lispector published a wide range of works, spanning various genres and literary styles, including novels, short stories, essays, chronicles, and even stories for children.
As such, the editorial project needed to be highly adaptable, reflecting the diversity of these genres while maintaining a cohesive and recognizable identity for the collection, to be published over time.

A combination of type…
Being widely recognized by her first name alone — Clarice — it felt natural to incorporate this distinctive element into the visual identity of the project.

… and photography
Having access to Clarice Lispector's personal archive allowed me to weave her personal history into her literary works. Through a die-cut, the juxtaposition of her photographs with the design of the covers contextualizes her writing chronologically and also highlights the connection between her identity and her work.
